In 2019 alone, Las Vegas hosted over 40 million tourists. Many people go without having planned enough. Here are eight of the biggest ways to avoid classic Las Vegas tourist mistakes.
1. Forgetting Their ID
Las Vegas is very strict in its alcohol laws. Ensure that you always have your ID to buy a drink. Bars can serve alcohol 24 hours a day in Nevada. Accepted ID includes driver's license, passport, state-issued ID card, and military ID card.
2. Not Staying During the Week
Some hotels can cost you up to five times as much money to stay in over the weekend. Do your research and find a time that matches your needs.
3. Ignoring All The Free Stuff
The Silverton Casino Hotel Aquarium has a 117,000-gallon aquarium with interactive mermaid experiences. The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Hotel includes tropical birds with live feedings twice daily.
4. Dehydration
The Nevada desert is hot. Remember to keep drinking water during your visit. This doesn't stop in the evening — drinkers need even more water.
5. Expensive Eating
Keep an eye out for cheaper eateries. If you want expensive places, book ahead — some can have very long waiting lists.
6. Ignoring Some of the Best Parts of Vegas
The Strip is not the only place for a good time. Explore downtown Las Vegas, the Fremont Street Experience, and the Mob Museum.
7. Forget to Bring a Cooler
Hotel mini-fridges charge high prices for their contents and can't be used for your own items. Bring a cooler of ice instead.
8. Not Having Appropriate Footwear
Avoid boots or high heels while around town. Look into sneakers or flats for long-term comfort. Area 15 is a spellbinding mash-up of experiences all in the same location.
